The collaborating agencies behind the luncheon came together because of the changing needs of our community and those we serve. Another way that we collaborate is the SHIFT Recovery Network.
SHIFT provides support to people in the Seattle/King County area who are Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender/Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) struggling with drug/alcohol abuse, addiction and recovery issues.
This peer recovery network was built to bring the strengths of each agency together; Rosehedge/MultiFaith Works delivers emotional and practical support by providing clients with Shanti and CareTeam volunteers, Seattle Counseling Service acts as the referral source for the Network and provides treatment services, Gay City Health Project hosts sober social events and community forums and SASG provides peer to peer recovery support groups and facilitator trainings.
There is an emphasis on volunteer recruitment, training and leadership skills developed for peer volunteers. SHIFT clients serve as volunteers in all of the collaborating agencies and are an integral part of the fabric of our larger community.
